Francis Ford Coppola

What better way to end the summer than a quick trip to Francis Ford Coppola. The pools are amazing, I wish we’d spent the whole day laying by them but its hard to do anything for more than a few hours with a busy toddler. We also spotted a tiny bunny and made a friend which was the highlight of the trip for our curious little boy who is obsessed with animals.

Nothing says end of summer like one last day of beating the heat under the shade of grape leaves. We live in the heart of wine country but sometimes it’s nice to get away from what we see every day and go somewhere different. Coppola is a great place to do this because the grounds are huge and once the sun drops below the golden hills you can sit outside and remain reasonably cool. Ah, California!

The food was good, the restaurant is slightly hyped up and over priced for the quality but it was part of the experience. It definitely paid off to grab a couple bottles of zin for the table to start. I tried to stay healthy for this meal but that didn’t happen. We started with a salad that I basically inhaled as soon as it hit the table and it was really fresh and tasty. The rack of lamb was really good, super tender and juicy without being over seasoned. I devoured the pizza like it was nobody’s business, the crust was thin and crispy but held up to the toppings. Our waiter recommended some goose fat fried potatoes that I really didn’t like and ended up sending back, it was a cast iron pan of greasy, fatty potatoes that were not seasoned. For desert we had panna cotta with fresh fruit which was heavenly!

I’m so blessed to have the family I do and to be able to spend time with them. Coppola showed us a good time and we left happy and full!
