Daily Skincare Routine

I thought I’d share my skincare routine as well as my favorite products with you today. I’ve received questions about my routine and the products I use so I figured it was time to put together a post about them. I have always had problems with my skin and growing up it was always a big concern for me. I suffered from acne but I also had no idea what I was doing so I spent a lot of years using products that weren’t meant for my skin type or addressed the skincare concerns I had. I have combination skin that’s pretty sensitive so finding products that is difficult. I am not an expert or a dermatologist, these are just products that work for me and my skin. It’s taken a lot of trial and error to find things that work for me so I try to stick with them.

My skincare routine starts when I wake up. The morning is when the skin is refreshed and renewed from the night before. All the good oils have saturated your skin and washing your face can do more harm than good. I just rinse my face with warm water to remove any dead skin cells and excess oils without stripping my skin of all the hard worked it did all night.
At night I use my Clarisonic with a cream cleanser to make sure my skin is free of all the day’s grime and dead skin. Cream cleansers don’t strip my skin of oils or dry it out but still cleanses well. My favorite is Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, it’s got great ingredients and comes with a muslin cloth for gentle cleansing. It’s got great ingredients and is super gentle on the skin while still being effective. It is slightly more pricey for the size which is why I buy it less often. It makes my skin so buttery soft and smooth because it removes all of the dead skin and buildup from the day.
For makeup remover I use good old 100% organic jojoba oil. It’s super gentle, has only one ingredient, and takes off waterproof mascara without any problem. I take a little bit and rub it between my fingers and pat it all over my face and remove it with a cotton round. For my eyemakeup I gently apply it to my eyes and very carefully massage it to remove stubborn makeup and mascara.

This is the simplest part of my skincare routine because it’s just one product. I love using just plain old witch hazel. It balances my skin’s oil product and ph and has no extra ingredients added in. I’ve heard great things about using a chemical exfoliator in place of witch hazel but I haven’t tried any yet. If you have reccs please drop me a comment below!

Applying my serum and moisturizer is one of the most important steps for keeping my skin clear and bright. Just a few drops of serum before my moisturizer creates a healthy, natural glow. The serum soaks in right away and actually tricks my skin into producing less because it’s already been properly moisturized. Serums are also jam-packed with great, natural ingredients that are beneficial to the overall health and elasticity of my skin. I look for ones that contain vitamin C for a healthy glow.
As for moisturizer, I use Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream, I have been using it for years and love it. It can be rather pricey but I see such a difference in my skin when I use it opposed to other moisturizers. At night I use a heavier cream such as Origins Night-a-mins. It is super emollient and leaves my skin so fresh and glowing in the morning, it really helps to make my skin healthy and moisturized throughout the day. It also evens my skin tone and fades dark spots.

You guys probably think I’m so weird but I apply SPF rain or shine to protect my skin from UV and free radicals. I have tan skin which means that people look at me and assume one of two things. 1. I don’t need sunscreen, which is completely false. Or 2. I must fake tan a lot to maintain my skin color, I’ve never even been to a tanning salon. This is an easy step in your skincare routine to skip but it’s really important to choose a high-quality sunscreen that works for your skin type. Right now I’m using SuperGoop! City Sunscreen SPF 30+ which has worked wonders for my sensitive skin. It’s not oily or thick at all, it feels just like a thin moisturizer when you apply it and soaks in so fast. It has not made me breakout and I have very sensitive skin.

Hey girl, I wear Tata Harper plumping lip and cheek stain in Very Charming. I’d always been a powder blush lover but then I switched to this and I’m obsessed, it just looks and feels more natural on my skin and my skin has been clearer too.
