Day-to-Night Anniversary Outfit

Over the weekend we celebrated our anniversary with a little date day/night which was a great reminder of why I love him so much. Since our anniversary consisted of a date day and a date night I thought I’d do a post on taking a simple dress from day to night for my anniversary outfit. It made it so simple to not have to worry about changing my whole outfit before dinner, I just swapped out my bag and shoes. We live in the heart of wine country so it was kind of a no-brainer that wine was on the menu. Fall is truly beautiful here; post-harvest season means the red and oranges are vibrant and rich making the hills looks like molten gold, fiery and soft all at once.

I chose this gorgeous navy dress as a fun alternative to an LBD with a subtly sexy low v-back as my anniversary outfit. I love the shape of it because it still looks classy and chic but has that fun back which shows just a little skin without going overboard. Swapping out your black basics for something navy give you an unexpected pop of color, it even works with eyeliner. Navy looks fabulous for fall because it adds a little bit of drama to your outfit that’s different than your typical black dress.

This particular one is from CELE which sells gorgeous dresses for all occasions that are all American-made. How fabulous is that?! By choosing items made in America you are consciously not supporting sweatshops and the horrible working conditions in them which is, in turn, creating more jobs here. Check out their site because they carry a whole bunch of gorgeous dresses for every occasion at reasonable prices. You can learn more about who they are and what the brand stands for here. It’s 95% Rayon so its super soft and light and 5% spandex so it hugs in all the right places. Bonus, it’s a total steal at under $40 and worth every penny!

For the daytime portion, I paired it with my Frye knee-high leather boots which are amazingly comfortable and are on MAJOR sale right now. Since it was a little bit cool I tossed on this gorgeous wool coat, which really isn’t a coat because it’s thin and not meant to layer under, and this blanket scarf. Of course. I basically live in this Target scarf and I’m sure everyone is sick of seeing it. It was a good way to dress down my anniversary outfit without taking away from the dress.

For dinner, I ditched the coat and scarf, swapped out my boots for my all time favorite nude pointy-toe pumps, and traded my satchel for a clutch. You guys know how much I love these shoes, I featured them in my Wedding Outfit post and my Instagram photo of them is featured on the Nordstrom site. They are the classic shoe that just adds so much to any outfit. They looked especially great with this dress and really made the color pop. My Rebecca Minkoff is actually a cross body but you can adjust the straps to make it a clutch.

It truly was an amazing day and I’m so happy I got to celebrate yet another year with my man. I feel so blessed.
