Tall boots are a staple of fall and winter wear; they are stylish, comfortable, and versatile. I own several pairs that I wear throughout the colder months that can be worn interchangeably to make different outfits. It’s still ankle boot weather here in NorCal but I’ve gotten all my tall boots out, given them some TLC, and now I’m patiently waiting to wear them. I’ve rounded up my top picks for tall boots and included budget friendly options as well.
I am HUGE fan of the classic height leather boot. Generally these are your thigh high-knee high boots in varying shades of brown and black, they generally get more expensive the fancier you get (provided they are real leather). You really can wear them with anything, they are great for dressing down long sleeve dresses or added some elegance to a pair of jeans and a blazer. They are timeless, elegant, warm, and last forever if you maintain them. Remember to care for your leather and suede! Whether its handbags or boots please please please oil and condition leather regularly and brush and buff suede as necessary, it will look a million times better and last you years longer.
Now I know that California is
drier than a British comedy experiencing less rain than usual but I included rain boot options for you ladies who live in places where you might need them and also for you hopeful California girls. I love my Hunter’s, I wear them when I think there might be the slightest chance of a drizzle (or fog). Not only are they super stylish but they are comfy! Mine have held up for years and this is the second pair I have ever owned in my whole life because my first pair lasted me almost 10 years. They can be worn with layers if needed (although I DO NOT recommend that you attempt to wear them in the snow) or by themselves with thin socks with a dress or skirt.
I purchase my first pair of over-the-knee boots this year. I’ve generally avoided this type because a) I’m a shortie and b) I don’t want to look like a streetwalker. I found these GORGEOUS Stuart Weitzman boots that I fell in love with until I saw the price tag ($800). Luckily, trusty Steve Madden makes an exact dupe for 1/6 of the price (plus I found them 20% on amazon with free shipping). So far I am loving them. They don’t make my legs look too short and still make them look long and slim with the medium heel.

This price point had, surprisingly, the most options for tall classic leather boots so I included a second line of picks of them.
