Summer Wedding Outfit

Bring on wedding season! We were invited to a bunch of weddings this summer and I finding the perfect wedding outfit was a daunting task. I knew it was going to be close to 100 degrees so I wanted something light colored that was still fun and colorful. I tried on a number of maxi dresses but settled on a skirt and top combo because it felt more versatile. I could pop a navy blazer on for the evening weddings or a cashmere cardi for the morning weddings.

For outdoor weddings, it’s impossible to know exactly what to expect in terms of weather but it’s best to come over-prepared especially when you are traveling to be there. This wedding outfit ended up being fine but I had a blazer and a pair of flats waiting in the car in case the weather turned. I am also notorious for over-packing and being overly prepared for those “just in case” moments.

I fell in love with this skirt because the hand dyed florals were so beautiful. It’s perfect for a summer wedding outfit because it’s a respectable length and has bright colors and a bold print. I paired it with this cropped top which was so great for how hot it was (102 this day). I love the intricate lace of the top and how it flows and swings. I made the mistake of lending this top to a friend and somehow it came back shorter than when I first purchased it, she swears she dry cleaned it but I suspect is just went through the washer and dryer. Ce la vie.

Of course, no wedding outfit is complete without KILLER nude pumps that I’ve posted about before. They are my favorite nude heel for special occasions, for obvious reasons, and are under $100! Steve Madden is pretty reliable for cute shoes at a good price and these ones certainly deliver. They aren’t too high so walking in them isn’t daunting.

I chose this polish that ended up looking really nice with my navy cross body chain bag and thrifted ring. I needed a bag that I didn’t have to hold the entire time so I could chase around a toddler, plus Rebecca Minkoff makes gorgeous bags. It was the perfect size to store the essentials; sunglasses, lipstick, keys, etc.
